This week, I went to 4 different cafes, all with a different theme. Here is my review on them all
Top Left: Hunter X Hunter Pop Up Cafe
This cafe was based on Hisoka and was located at the Animate Cafe Ikebukuro 3rd store. I tried Killua's Blue Electric Soda (900 yen) and Illumi's Ominous Drink (900 yen). The presentation was nice, but the taste was a little bland. I also had the BLT sandwich (1,500 yen), which was a lot better than the drinks. We got some free coasters and stickers with our meal, and there was a merch shop with acrylic stands and keychains.
Top Right: Pokemon Cafe
Pokemon Cafe was definitely my favorite out of the four, as I have loved Pokemon since I was young. It was very hard to get a reservation here, as they were always fully booked. Luckily, someone cancelled and I was able to secure an 8 PM time. Since it is so hard to get a reservation, I would recommend trying to get a walk in time during off hours, such as evening on a weekday. I tried the Pikachu and Bulbasaur Curry Plate (2,420 yen), Snorlax Lunch Plate (2,420 yen), Sprigatito Ice Cream Soda (1,265 yen), and Gengar Confuse Ray Smoothie (1,045 yen). Though expensive, the food was delicious and really filling. There was also a Pikachu mascot that came out during our meal and danced around the restaurant.
Bottom Left: Jujutsu Kaisen x Sanrio Cafe
This was a limited time collaboration between Jujutsu Kaisen and Sanrio in Harajuku. I tried Ieiri Glass × Hangyodon Shrimp Chili Burger and Geto Suguru x RuroRomanic Meatball Burger, both 2,690 yen with the set. Our meals came with coasters and stickers, similar to the Hunter X Hunter cafe. There was a 770 yen reservation fee for this cafe, but it came with a clear pouch with all of the characters on it.
Bottom Right: Cafe Monochrome
This cafe in Shibuya was hidden behind all the busy streets, in a quiet neighborhood. The space inside was small, only able to fit 4-5 parties at a time, but I chose to go at 3, so there was no wait. The whole menu was filled with drinks and desserts in black and white. I got the Maple Milk Pudding (900 yen), Chiffon Cake (1,000 yen), and Monochrome Latte (900 yen). The pudding was my favorite, and it had a cool design on it. I wasn't a fan of the latte, as it lacked flavor, and tasted more like milk. I also enjoyed the chiffon cake, but I definitely liked the pudding more.
